"The 2005 Mourvedre “The Black Sock” contains 15% Shiraz. It was aged in seasoned American oak puncheons. It offers a complex aromatic array of cedar, forest floor, truffle, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a structured wine with layers of spicy black fruits, excellent balance, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Give it 2-3 years to evolve and drink it through 2015."

“A stunning effort, the full-bodied 2004 Mourvedre Black Sock, a combination of 85% Mourvedre, 10% Shiraz, and 5% Grenache, was aged in primarily old French oak. With peppery, floral notes interwoven with blueberries and black raspberries, nice layers, and a plump, lush texture, this impressive Mourvedre reveals none of the bitterness or stemmy, earthy character this varietal can possess. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years.”

"The rise of the Black Sock! Coming from four low yielding Mourvedre vineyards. A small amount of ripe, old vine Shiraz to this wine results in texture of robust elegance. Aged in 75% one year old French and American oak. Juicy black cherry fruit, with spice, pepper, meat and some creamy oak. It's full flavored and ripe. This very limited release wine can be enjoyed now and anytime over the next 7-10 years during which time is will really reveal itself. Treat the Black Sock with respect and remember never go where you are not supposed to...!" |
