2005 Vintage

"Raising the bar is the 2005 Shiraz “The Election,” a wine aged in French (70% new) and American oak. Purple/black in color, it emits a powerful perfume of pain grille, smoked meat, bacon, pencil lead, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. It has a deep core of spicy black fruits, superb balance, and immense promise. It merits 8-10 years of additional cellaring and will drink well through 2030."

2004 Vintage

“The deep, full-bodied, intense, opulent, inky/purple-tinged 2004 Shiraz Election offers loads of toasty oak, blackberry and cassis fruit, smoke, and meaty characteristics. It is a big, mouth-staining Shiraz that fans of Euro-styled, more elegant reds will find too much of a good thing. It should drink well for a decade.”

"Only produced in outstanding vintages. A wine that shows Respect, Honor, and Tradition for the Barossa Valley. Coming from mature, low yielding vines this wine is not only a vineyard selection, but also a selection of our finest barrels. It is Barossa Shiraz truly embodied. Combining great intensity and concentration with opulent ripe fruit and well-integrated oak. Aged in new and older American and French oak for 22 months. Dense in color, the intense damson and black cherry fruit is allied to spice, pepper and creamy oak. Complex and long. This is Barossa Shiraz at its best. Drinking well now, but sure to age well over the next 10 years if you are able to both love it and leave it! Vote Magpie and reap the reward..."
